My Experience

Hiya, I'm 17 and I am still recovering from my first ever BC.
I had noticed a lump for about 4 years and I thought nothing of it, it was probably a tad bit smaller than a grape.

However, I woke up one Monday morning, started getting ready for college, had a shower and noticed it was quite sore, my mum was at work so I went to college and told her that night.
We went to see the doctor the next morning and she was so rough, it hurt like hell! I kept telling her to stop it but she carried on poking, prodding and squeezing it. After putting me through so much pain she then worried me by not knowing what to do, in the end she called GYN and they told her to send me home and they would call me when they had a bed.
They told me to come in for 2 o'clock. So I did, I had 2 doctors look at me (one was a second opinion) and they then decided to operate and do a marsupilation that night.

The next morning I felt dreadful, everyone had said to me I would feel instant relief, what a joke! I felt like crap, I hadn’t even eaten for 39 hours but I didn’t care. I went home that morning.
When I got home I just went downhill. My mum called the emergency doctor and they would fob her off saying the pain and swelling would be expected.
I would cry whilst having a pee and the only thing that would soothe me would be a bath. But on Saturday night I felt as sick as ever, I had never felt so much pain in my life and it had become unbearable, this time I talked to the doctor on the phone myself, she told me to put an ice pack on it and for my chronic stomach pains a hot flannel and take more painkillers. None of them worked.
The next morning my mum ran my salt bath, by this time my labia (on both sides) were the size of tennis balls and I couldn’t even sit in the bath.
My dad called the doctors and threatened them that if they didn’t come out to see me he would be reporting them. The doctor came out within an hour!!
By this time I was completely dehydrated as I hadn’t been eating or drinking since I had came home.
The doctor took one look at it, didn’t even poke or touch it and said it had come back. I was devastated. He had to get the ambulance out to me and I was taken back into hospital.
One of the really nice doctors came over to me that I had seen previously and took one look and said she would have to get a second opinion (again), another doctor came over and asked for my family to leave and just my mum to stay. They pulled the curtains around my bed as I couldn’t walk to the examination room so they kept me on the ward. She then said "You will have to hold your mums hand very tight now, we can’t wait until tomorrow morning and that is the only time we can operate". I held my mums had tight and screamed and sobbed so loud, she began to squeeze all the puss out of it, I had no numbing or anaesthetic. The relief was AMAZING!! I had been through so much pain that even though her squeezing it was painful the relief afterwards was well worth it.
I stayed in hospital overnight and was put on a drip. I went home the next day.
I’m still a little sore now, it will be 2 weeks tomorrow since I had it removed again (the feeling is like I’m slightly bruised). They say it takes about 4-6 weeks to completely recover but I’m going back to college on Monday. I was really upset by the whole experience and my heart goes out to anyone else that goes through it too.
I hope my experience has helped people and don’t be afraid to go to a doctor.

Abby
