So while on my menstrual cycle I notice a small lump. Like I bean. I use tampons and from reading this site, I think the tampon blocked my Bartholin gland which caused this cyst!
Upon noticing the lump, I waited for my cycle to be done and went immediately to the hospital Monday at 2am in the morning. But before going I did read other sites which were a bit confusing but I summed it up, saw some pictures and knew I had a Bartholin cyst before I got there. Any way when I got to the ER, I was a bit embarrassed to tell the triage nurse what was going on. I told her I noticed a bump and it was not painful, it was a little. So after waiting 3 hours, I finally see the doctor. And from what I previously read before going to the ER, I thought they would lance it, give my antibiotics, and I would be on my way. NOT THE CASE. She it is a Bartholin cyst and told me she could not drain or poke it because it was not the size of a golf ball. Which made me cry! She told me I would have to wait until it got bigger to do anything so for right now she was going to put me on antibiotics and then if it didn't go away on its own, I would have to come back. I was SO upset, I did not wait around for the prescription because she said I would need a pregnancy test. I told this doctor I just got off my cycle and she said it was procedure! I was MAD!!!!
I just left, went home a cried like a baby. Got home like 5am. All I want it for this thing to go away and fast. I am an exotic dancer and can not work if I have this cyst on my vagina!
It is the size of an almond. Not big. But I notice it and can feel it. Its very hard and it hurts like HECK!
With no sleep just crying until 10am, I called this place I had a termination at before and asked if they drain Bartholin cyst. This lady told me I need a sonogram!!!!! Didn't read that on the net so I hung up on her. I called my regular GYN and the lady on the phone booked me an appointment for Wednesday 9am. I explained to her what was going on and she told me they will do a consultation and afterwards if need be they will remove it. She also told me do not eat or drink anything Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
I really hope they can help me.
I found this site (ight now it is 1:30am Tuesday morning) I havent got a wink of sleep yet.
I have a few questions though.
Is it true they can not lance it if it is not the size of a golf ball? Right now this thing hurt and is the size of an almond. I am sitting at my desk and can barely stand it. Even laying down I feel it hurting!
When I do go to the GYN on Wednesday I want to know if they do lance and drain it, no word catheter, will they use stitches to close it or let it heal by itself?
Also how long will it take to heal?
I will definitely keep you ladies posted on what happens and hopefully I will be feeling better soon!
