During WWII we stole Einstein from the Germans. This was to his benefit, both physically and in his work.
America needed to support the rather consistently, the disprove of Classical Mechanics.
I have stated before that if it was not for Einstein, common people would not find science easy. He made the shift from Classical Mechanics to Modern Physics possible. Everybody could say E=mc^2. Congress could understand Einstein. So they could fund anyone who cited Einstein.
The problem with Einstein's THEORIES is their axioms. Symmetry, Flat Universe, Mass, Gravity,...
Like any poor scientist, he never changed his work on the results of others. For years he sat alone writing. Science is about reading the work of others.
I notice that Einstein was not allowed to work on the Manhattan Project. The US Military brought simple problems to Einstein to fix for the war effort. He increased the effectiveness of torpedoes.
He had a marketable personality and style. Its all about the money.
