Man uses Einsteins Relativity to hike 5000 kilometres in 10 days
5000kilometres/10 days = 500 kilometres per day
24 hours a day, so
500 km/24 hrs = 20.8 kilometres per hour
top marathon speed is 19- 20 km/hour *
So running at that sort of speed for 10 days is quite an achievement; but using Einsteins relativity makes it a lot easier; read-on:

Sanford sang: I'm Hiking on a Jet Plane...so Don't cry for me Argentina
Hiking from South Carolina to Argentina even when adultery has been the goal has often taken months at a time. South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has achieved what seems to be the impossible by walking from Charleston, South Carolina to Buenos Aires, Argentina in the amazing record of only ten days.
Hiking experts are questioning Sanford's claim based on sheer mathematics. The five thousand kilometers from South carolina to Argentina would have to hiked at light speed to achieve the goal in ten days. sanford defended his record by pointing out that even Einstein considered the relative speed of a thrown ball or a hiking man while aboard a train, a boat or a plane. Maybe I made it in ten days or less because I was hiking on a jet plane... Have you thought about that sports fans!?

Any Governor who secretly leaves his State for some "fresh squeeze" is an idiot!
Any Governor who secretly leaves the Country for some "fresh squeeze" is an flaming idiot!
Any Man who secretly leaves his children on Fathers Day for some "fresh squeeze" is a total idiot!
You may call it initiative if you want but I think him an idiot and, St. Albert was far from being an idiot although he did have initiative.
If it can be shown that Sanford left this Country without surrendering his powers of Governor to the Lt. Governor, then legal charges should be considered.

roger: "we were discussing his hiking abilities"
Ok then. Your original post of, June 27, 2009 @ 7:43 AM was a parody of how Sanford used Einstein's Relativity to walk from SC to Argentina.
I replied on June 27, 2009 @ 11:08 AM with song lyrics from (The Proclaimers), about a fellow who was willing to walk 1,000 for just a smile. Then, considering the irony of the group being called (The Proclaimers), I off handedly remarked that Sanford should be "Proclaimed" an idiot!
Your response to me on June 27, 2009 @ 5:33 PM made no mention of the song, only that Sanford was using initiative which implied that he (Sanford) was not an idiot.
Which then prompted me to justify why I thought him the idiot and stated my case on June 27, 2009 @ 11:02 PM.
Now you want to return to the subject of how Sanford could have made such a trek in just a week based on Relativity. Let's then, see how Einstein could explain such a phenomenon.
"When you sit with a nice girl for two hours, you think it's only a minute. But when you sit on a hot stove for a minute, you think it's two hours. That's relativity." A. Einstein
Considering that the anticipation of being with a nice girl would be equal to actually sitting with a nice girl, then, for each two hours he walked with only one minute passing, he would have had more than adequate time to travel to South America, and return, leaving plenty of time to squeeze his "fresh squeeze", which, does not diminish the fact that Sanford is an idiot for reasons as previously stated.
The question then is, was the girl nice? Evidently, considering Sanford's actions, Sanford felt she was! Me, I prefer good girls.
Satisfied?
This is silly

Yes, the gov shows us how hard it is to get some in America. He also showed us what an ass he is. Removal from office is dictated by the state's constitution. It may not have a clause about going to see your stress reducer in Argentina. It may. I have not read it.
Now for the really silly part. This walking on an airplane. If the idiot walked up and down the isle during flight, he would still not walk 5000 miles. He would walk the distance of the isle * the number of iterations. Do we consider the distance the earth travels in our trip to the mall. No.

Hell, let's figure the Earth's travel around the Sun and add in the Sun's travel around the galaxy, and the galaxy's travel around the super cluster.
Who's imagination was it that thought up the walk in the aisle? Someone calling him/r self Pointer.
Aaron: "Now for the really silly part. This walking on an airplane. If the idiot walked up and down the isle during flight, he would still not walk 5000 miles.",
Actually Aaron, if he began his isle trek when the flight departed until it landed, he indeed, walked over 5,000km and, barring turbulence, other passengers and alcoholic beverages, he most likely, walked well over 5,000km.

Maybe the Proclaimers meant that they would use an airplane to travel 1000 miles; would that make them idiots; would anyone who used a plane be an idiot? Sanford used a plane, I see no connection with that making him an idiot.

Re: roger, Man uses relativity to hike June 28 2009, 3:51 PM
roger: "Maybe the Proclaimers meant that they would use an airplane to travel 1000 miles;"
No roger, The Proclaimers clearly meant "walk", they used the word "walk" or "walked" 12 times in their song and in fact rog they even used the word "walk" in the title which gives a total of 13 times The Proclaimers used the word "walk" or "walked". And clearly rog there is no inference in the song that their willingness to walk had any connection to their walking while on an airplane.
roger: "would that make them idiots; would anyone who used a plane be an idiot?"
No! but there are many idiots who use planes. My question to you roger, is, why did you change the subject to wood working equipment? A little diversion on your part maybe!
roger: "Sanford used a plane, I see no connection with that making him an idiot."
That depends rog, if he did not use the plane for its intended purpose it may very well have made him the idiot.
roger: "There was no mention of girls."
No mention of girls!
girl: "a single or married woman of any age"
(source)http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/girl
Sanford went to be with a girl!
Einstein talked of sitting with a girl!
The Proclaimers were willing to walk 1,000 miles to be with a girl!
I gotta say rog, you seem a little short on the subject at hand!
roger: "You are on diversion again."
I am not the one who started talking about wood working equipment...roger! I have been on point since this flight of fancy began.
bob s: "Actually Aaron, if he began his isle trek when the flight departed until it landed, he indeed, walked over 5,000km and, barring turbulence, other passengers and alcoholic beverages, he most likely, walked well over 5,000km."

Did you really "get it" rog, or are you just saying that to impress me?
5000km walk.
June 28 2009, 6:57 PM
If the man walks the length of the cabin 200ft in 1 minute. Then the flight takes 10 hours. Thats 600 minutes. 600*200 ft = 120000ft = 36.576km.
The plane may have traveled 5000 km but the person walking inside traveled 36.576 km. Barring any alcohol, or pretty stewardess telling him to be seated.

yes, and they could have walked on the plane if they wanted to.

no inference that they weren't going to walk on the plane.

That may very well be true Aaron, but what I said was "...he indeed, walked over 5,000km" What I meant was, he walked whilst over 5,000km. This string is a parody Aaron, I am just trying to keep with that theme.

Anonymous: "...and no mention of wood working equipment;"
Again, not true Anon., roger clearly asked "would anyone who used a plane be an idiot?" a plane is a tool for smoothing or shaping a wood surface. (source)http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/plane%5B3%5D

roger: "So are we agreed then..."
I do not know who "we" is, but I have not agreed with any of your mistakes.
roger: " - that walking on a plane would be a physical impossibility because we could not agree as to how far we walked."
Considering a plane (defined above) is not very big the best you could hope for is to just stand on one with one foot. Why do you keep introducing things that are not associated with the subject at hand? Anonymous up there thinks I am the one who is doing the diversion.

Anon.: "no mention of girl"
My previous statement;
"I have not introduced anything that was not stated or implied in the first post!"
Opening line from the article;
"Hiking from South Carolina to Argentina even when adultery has been the goal has often taken months at a time." (emphasis added)
Subject of article;
Mark Sanford and adultery
Adultery, definition:
:voluntary sexual intercourse between a married man and someone other than his wife or between a married woman and someone other than her husband (source)
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/adultery
Fact, Mark Sanford admitted that his hike to Argentina was to commit adultery with a woman.
So yes Anonymous, a girl was mentioned, by reference and by implication.
Fact,
Mark Sanford hiked from South Carolina to Argentina and back in 7 days to commit adultery with (by definition) a girl. He left on June 18, 2009 and returned on June 24, 2009 so he was gone for only 7 days, not 10 days, as you erroneously stated. You should learn to get your facts straight. An interpreter wouldn't hurt your case either!

Wrong again roger! The article was, "Man uses Relativity to hike..." to Argentina to commit adultery. But the article was just a "spoof" roger. In fact, Sanford did not need Relativity to hike to Argentina and all he needed to commit adultery, was, a person other than his wife, which, in this case, happened to be a girl!
Try real hard to grasp this roger, the man (Sanford) used adultery as the motivation to hike to Argentina and back to commit adultery, the man (Sanford) using "Relativity to accomplish the hike" was the "spoof" part of the "spoof" web site! You really seem to be working from a limited knowledge base rog.

Sanford's "motivation" is implied by his actions, here, read the opening line of the article again;

Sex was the motivation.
Adultery was the goal of the motivation.
Hiking was the means to achieve that goal.
Using Relativity to explain the hike was the "spoof".
