Einstein’s decades old theory is finally helping us to weigh stars
Saturday 6 January 2018
In 1919, the first experimental test Einstein’s general theory of relativity took place; measuring the mass of the Sun by the way it bends light around it. Almost 100 years later, the theory is finally being used to measure the mass of other stars.
--- WTF. General relativity (GR) was surely - supposedly able to predict the amount of light bending in 1919 from knowing what the mass of the sun was (?) Now we are being told GR was supposedly saying what the mass of the sun was from how much lightbending there was (?) YOU can't predict both; so what was it predicting the amount of lightbending or the mass of the sun!!
