How Global Warming causes an Ice age

Many have asked how global warming can cause an ice age. In lieu of going to see the movie which will explain the theory, I offer the following explanation I found on the net. This is the movie's explanation, and I have no idea whether this theory applies to true-life nature. If someone has any information that this is inaccurate, please let us know.

"The ocean currents are caused by balance of fresh water and salt water. As the temperature rises, the polar ice caps would melt throwing the ocean currents off balance because there would then be much more fresh water than salt water. This change in the currents causes massive climate changes. A huge storm could result from that. This storm would pull down air from the upper troposphere, which comes down so quickly that it doesn't have time to warm up before reaching the earth causing temperatures of below -150 degrees, freezing everything instantly."
