I heartily recommend the instrumental version of the Doctor Octagon disc... it's yet another Kool Keith project, this one with great, awesome, amazing loop music not too far removed at times from a DJ Shadow release.

Other Kool Keith-affiliated releases that're good as far as music goes are both Doctor Dooom (a loose "sequel" to Dr. Octagon) and The Analog Brothers (which happens to feature Ice-T, among others, on the mic). I wish both of these discs had instrumental versions out... I heard that RZA from Wu-Tang was gonna put out an instrumental version of his Bobby Digital disc but I never saw it... that'd be a good one as well if you ever find it, but I'd definitely check out Dr. Octagon first.

Doctor Dre released his last, Chronic 2001, as a limited-edition instrumental disc (far superior, in my book, to the vocal version) as well.

Hmm. Lastly, as memory serves me not so well tonight, I gotta point you to Mix Master Mikes' cd, Antitheft Device, for sheer dj heroics. Many of the tracks are along the lines of a DJ Spooky or DJ Shadow, really good stuff. Highly recommended.

If you are unable to preview tracks from any of these discs before buying and are interested in sampling 'em, lemme know with a note and a cookie. An' if you find the one you mentioned, vocal-free, pass it on, brutha!
