aaah...!

After two+ years, my interest in Beefheart has finally been reciporcated! :)

I only have 2 of his albums (SAFE AS MILK and TROUT MASK REPLICA), and would definitely own more, but most of his stuff appears to have gone out-of-print recently...and I won't shell out $20-30 for imports...but I've been downloading some tracks recently. (There might still be some up at www.beefheart.com...they even had his SNL appearance in Real format and the video for "Ice Cream for Crow"!)

I've always wondered if Dali's Car (Peter's band) was named after the song. I know John Lydon's a big fan....and I've always wondered about that Beck character.

The Captain and FZappa used to hang out together when they were youngsters...Beefheart/Don appeared on some of Zappa's earliest recordings, such as "Tiger Roach" (and U can find some of these today on FZ's THE LOST EPISODES cd). I think a slight tinge of rivalry developed later on, but they nonetheless cut a live album together (BONGO FURY) in the 70's, and Don made some contributions to the LOST EPISODES liner notes.
