Prologue the beginning of the end (setting: the night of Owen’s death)
Bret’s Point of View

“And we are having big problems out here...the blue blazer who we all know is Owen Hart was set to make a spectacular superhero like entrance from the ceiling and fell from the ceiling. We are not sure whether the harness became undone or what the malfunction was. The paramedics and emergency medical technicians are working on Owen now and we are not going to fictionalise this situation by showing it on television this is not a wrestling angle this is as real as real can be” says Vince McMahon. I’m sitting to the right of him Jerry the King Lawler is to his left, Jerry and I rush to the ring to help my brother before it is too late.
“it does not look good at all” says Jerry I sit in silence, stunned by what has just happened
An hour later Vince says,
“earlier tonight, the blue blazer who we all know is Owen Hart was set to make a spectacular superhero like entrance from the ceiling and fell from the ceiling. We are not sure whether the harness became undone or what the malfunction was. I have the unfortunate responsibility to let everyone know that Owen Hart has died. Owen Hart has tragically died in this accident here tonight...”
Mr. Perfect comes to ring side with Sting, while Vince, Jerry, Eric and I rushed backstage
“Bret, Heyman has been snooping around”
”not just snooping around he’s the one responsible for what happened to Owen here” says Shane
I hear but I simply don’t comprehend what has happened to my brother...
“Bret I am so sorry... I don’t know what happened Heyman was co-ordinating the stunt!”
”that’s what happened then!” I tell Vince angrily.
Eric hugs me hard, Shawn says
“everyone go and give us some space please”
“thanks Shawn” says Eric
Shawn and Kevin go and stand outside the locker room door. Eric hugs me harder and says
“I’m so sorry Bret”
That is all he has to say to make me cry.
