ten years now I've had it

by

I was a college student, sitting in class when suddenly I leaned against the wall to my side, and proceeded to slide down the wall. An ambulance came to take me to the hospital where I learned that I have Congestive Heart Failure. I went on to graduate, earning a Bachelors degree in literature, but I am unable to do anything other than type on a word processor or computer keyboard. Now ten years later, the doctors have me on a strict regimen of drugs to control my breathing, my urination, my heart's pumping action, and the depression that comes with being totally disabled. I am also on oxygen.
I was once a strong surdy individual who flew into life wih a vengeance. Now I am a laid-back, almost catatonic, heart patient with no energy at all. The change in my lifestyle has been radical. I have kissed the old me goodbye, and am trying to adjust to the me that I am now. It is not easy.
