Hello. I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy in Sept 2000 being the age of 43 at that time. In the rural area where I live this condition is very uncommon and not much known about it. I went to the Cleveland Clinic in January 200l. This condition is very common to them. I have been doctoring there since making a trip 2 times each year. I just recently went - had an echocardiogram and my heart refraction is stable at 50% compared to less than 20% when I was first diagnosed. My condition is being controlled with medications. According to Cleveland Clinic there are several options for treatment. You can get information from the internet at www.clevelandclinic.org Hope this helps
