My sister sought a second opinion last week. The second Card. said she looked great and there was no need to terminate this pregnancy until her heart showed signs that it was not dealing with the pregnancy well, her high risk OB agreed. I am concerned with the "long term" effects of carrying this baby. Her MD said that a heart transplant is in the future. Carrying this child may speed up the need for this but God willing she will have a healthy baby and feel good about her decision. He also said he could not predict the future, but they would monitor her close and let her body guide them. I felt this was the best advise as none of us know what our future holds. She could very well carry this baby without complications, but if she terminates now she will never know and I think the greiving she would go through not trying would do her great harm. She also has a 5 year old that she wants to see grow-up, so she is not willing to take serious risk (if the MD tells her she WILL NOT survive the pregnancy she will at that time painfully terminate). I will pray for you also. My e-mail is down, but if you are able please keep me posted in your progress.
