COPD and Congestive Heart Failure

by

My husband was diagnoised in April with COPD and Congestive Heart Failure at DUKE, Durham NC; he
had fluid in his chest and extremities. He was on Lipitor for approximately 4 years and he got weaker and weaker, could the Lipitor have caused this? Now the doctor wants to put him on Lescol which is in the fame family of Lipitor. He is 86, not a candidate for a PaceMaker; he is on oxygen level 2; he gets in-home physical therapy and plans, hopefully, to start to Pulmonary Rehab. He does have kidney problems, his creatinie is 2.66. Someone please help. I feel so helpless; he can now get out of bed so that is an improvement, but he use to ride the mower, be able to go to the SuperMarket, at least, with me and we could short distance travel. Is there any hope? Would anyone advise getting on the statin. Chol is 160, Trig 166, HDL low of 23 and s/b 29-67, LDL 104, risk factor of 7.0 s/b 5.0 or less. K+ is 5.2 s/b 5.1 or less. He is on coumadin for CAD, lisinopril 5 mg, atenolol 12.5 for BP, Flomax .4 every other day for kidney, Januvia for diabetes/no insulin and Furosemide 20 mg. for fluid. He takes various supplements. Please help. Also, is cardiomyopathy the same as heart failure. His valves are fine; he has had years past 3 heart bypass and one renal stent.
