magnificent riflebird

I've been looking on this site for months to get quality histories and dressings for many of the flies i tie-- Great Site!!!!. just now, i clicked on the forum link and thought i'd post a question I have...

On a couple site that feature very modern flies like the complete sportsman's radical fly gallery and such have a small cheek feather from the magnificent riflebird. I've read up about the bird and it's extremely illegal to own. I was wondering if these feathers at one point were part of the classic flies, or if it's just a modern addition. Anyways, i've already found an increadible substitute- Hummingbird body feathers.

-Thanks

Thanks for the nice words about my site !!
As far I know thoose feathers are a modern addition, and have no place in the classic salmonflies history.
