Salmon Tying Resources

I have been tying flies for 3 years and am interested in starting tying salmon flies. What book would be the best to buy for a resource to get me started?

My suggestion is to buy a new print of G.M¨.Kelson's
The Salmonfly and use the internet for better pictures,
In that book you can read all you need to know.
Good luck Wolfgang

Don't start with Kelson's book

Wolfgang,

I think any beginner would do better to first get Michael Redencich's book first, and then Mikael Frodin's "Classic Salmon Flies." The first (see the details on another message)has the tying details, and Frodin's book has almost all of the possible variations on patters from Kelson, P-T, Francis-Francis and the other historic tyers.

These are both available from Coch-y-Bondu books in Wales. Also check out the Advanced Book Exchange webpage (www.abebooks.com), they have almost any title you can think of, and at good prices.

Best regards,

dw
