Below is a message from the City of Seattle
Dear SNAP Associates and Emergency Preparedness Contacts:

As you can imagine, we are closely following the development of swine
flu as the outbreak continues throughout the country and
internationally.

Locally, we are working with our city departments to ensure a
coordinated planning and response effort. Public Health - Seattle and
King County is the lead agency for public education and information,
ensuring clear consistent messages are shared throughout the community.

Attached is the FAQ they released yesterday which is helpful when
answering questions regarding the current pandemic. Please feel free to
distribute this to friends, neighbors and any connections throughout
your community. The FAQ also lists additional websites for more
information and on-going updates.

Also attached is the handwash poster. For additional copies, go to:

One of the most effective things to do right now is practice everyday
behaviors to stay healthy.

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or
sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you
cough or sneeze. If you donft have access to soap and water, use an
alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
To further prevent the spread of germs, avoid touching your
eyes, nose or mouth.
Avoid close contact with sick people
Try to stay in good general health. Get plenty of sleep, be
physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat
nutritious food.

As with all our preparedness efforts, each of us has the greatest
impact on those around us. Now is also great time to take a look at your
familyfs emergency supplies, review your plan together and check on
those around you.

Together, we can stay fully informed and prepared.

Sincerely,

Seattle Emergency Management
Public Education Team
