I'm a 20 year old bloke from England looking to cycle coast to coast at some point next year. Not sure of route yet, but I am looking for someone to organise it with and eventually do it with.
Im travelling at the moment, but im going to be in America around early May 2010, im also planning on cylcing from the west to the east. Have you thought about how long you want to take to do it? Are you on a strict schedule?. Let me know if you've got any ideas or plans, maybe we could work something out.

I am still in the planning stage as to routes and such, but at the moment I am thinking roughly going NY --> Columbus --> Chicago or St Louis --> Des Moines --> Salt Lake City --> Reno --> San Francisco. I'm not particularly fussed about any of those points in particular.
In terms of how long, I am a student at uni up in Bonny Scotland, and I will be finished end of May until September, so any time frame within that really. I'm not on a particularly strict schedule.
I am not sure if you will be able to get back in time for school but Colorado Guy went from San Deigo CA to GA in 45 days. I read his diary about the tour he took of the US to help me plan on what I may need to do my tour. I am now planning on what I will be needing to take with me even though I will be going north to south and then back north on my bicycle. I am also taking a kid hauler ( my trailer that can be used to haul kids too young to ride a bike) and those can carry 100 or more depending on the type. I am also going to suggest that you look at the way you are going ot go to find the route with the most places you will want to see and then contact the cities by email to see what information that they can send you for free. Most states and cities will send you information for free some will however charge for maps so I would also contact the bike shops in the cities you would like to go to and see what information that you can have sent to you.

Hey, I was reading the other responses and I am pretty interested. I'm a 21-year old female graduating college in May. I really really want to bike cross country, but don't want to do it by myself. I'm in the NYC area, so if you go Atlantic to Pacific I am totally game. Keep me posted!
