Actually it was creationism that was falsified over 150 years ago. For centuries the earth was thought to be young. Based on interpretation of scripture it was thought to have been created in the year 4004BC.

But Lyell documented the geological timetable and then Darwin came along with evolution as an explanation of how this timetable came to be.

Another example of how science changes to new evidence is the idea of Plate Techtonics (PT). When the studies first came out in favor of PT in the 1960's the idea was hotly debated and contested. But eventually the evidence "won" scientists over and this idea is now taught in every geology department around the globe.

These two examples show that science can adapt to changing ideas and new evidence. If creationism had any real evidence to support it, then it would still be accepted in science. But creationism is an old and refuted idea and evolution is the only idea taken seriously in the scientific community.
