The only logical reason you've stated is for health reasons. But the majority of Muslims do it for the silly reasons. The others are simply silly superstition. For "purity" or "symbolic" reasons? Might as well rub my possessed rock five times for "purity" as well:)

Ya, the next time I go to Pappa Johns Pizza Im going to specifically tell the manager I am refraining from pizza to make me holy and closer to god, so I am going to order your chicken wings instead! :) I should make up some silly brochure about the purity one can gain from refraining from pizza, and how this makes you closer to god :)
