Hi forum members, I'm Art and hang out on a few of the Forums. Found link to this forum from the Yellow Forum post.

Browsing the posts I though I would comment on part of this post about zero a scope.

Setup target at close range like 10 yards so you will be sure to hit the target.

Fire a shot.

If you have a gun vise then place gun in the vice and align the scope with the crosshairs on the pellet hole.

Adjust the windage and elevation knobs so the scope is dead center of the bullseye on the target. This is the one shot zero method.

If you don't have a gun vise then get the gun rested on the sandbags and try and hold gun as steady as possible and adjust one knob such as elevation, just move crosshair so line is even with center of target. The place gun crosshairs back on pellet hole and adjust windage knob so its center of target.

Next move target out to 25 yards and fire a two 5 shot groups.

Retrieve the target and examine the 5 shot groups to be sure they are both about same size. Next draw a circle around the group and make a mark in the center of the group.

Measure the distance from center of the group to the bullseye. If a sighting target was used with 1/4 grid it's easy to see by the grid how many 1/4 inches you are off.

A scope will have either 1/4 or 1/8 clicks of adjustments at 100 yards so one click will move pellet 1/4 inch and at 25 yards it will be 4 times that. so if center of group is 1/2' to the left then you will need 8 clicks of the scope to move it to center of target.

What you need to do is have the center of the group adjusted to center of bullseye doesn't matter if no pellet actually hit the center. You want all 5 shots you fire to as close to center as the gun and shooter is capable of.

The real range to sight it will depend if you are going to hold over/under or click for different ranges. But I don't want to confuse you by going into all details, I will just say the rifle will only be dead on at range you select to sight in and will be either lower or higher at other ranges.
