What's going on? Well i'm 16 years old and i just got a blue tick and have hunted(coon)all my life and i've found that hunting your dog with other dogs.(already trained dogs)i've hunted black-and-tans,walkers,blue dogs, red bone, english, and some other dogs. well i just got a blue dog of my own and she is about 15 months old and she is running coon and treeing them by herself. she won't stay on the tree for an hour yet. we timed her for aroung 45min. though and thats pretty good. if you have a box trap try trapping them. i don't think you'll catch very many of them right now because they are mateing right now. i've only caught one since december. but if you can catch stray cats that works good i heard. i've never tried it personaly but i know a couple of guys that have and have shot them out to a dog that is alitte over 2 years old and it is winning night hunts so it must work. I also heard getting your dog out right before dark and right after daylight in the morning because that is when some coon are moveing this time of year for some reason. i've shot 3 coon out to her aroung 5:00 in the after noon and it was just last weekend. and another thing when you get out at those times they will tree squirrl and thats good for them too i guess and she has been doing better since i've taken her out at those times. i only did it once and got a couple of squirrl and got those coon with a dog that is finshed. but if you can get your dog to go hunting with another dog thats good but i like doing it by myself. like trapping and getting her out at those times because if she starts running junk i can straighten her out. don't whipp your dog but straighten her out. but the only thing is i have basketball everynight and football and a girlfriend. so it's hard to do all of this and still stay above a "C" average in school. My dog has "spanky"'s blood in her and spanky won the world championship so i hope she turns out that good. her brother was running and treeing at 8 months! well right back and tell me any tips yu've heard ar learn't so thanks! I start varsity b-ball and football as a quarterback as a shophomore and it's hard to get my dog out alot so if you can get your dog out a couple night a week it will turn out what you want it to i'm sure. it just depends on how much time you want to wait on it. my dog never started even running them until she was a year old and others start when they are a couple of months old it just depends on the dog. and how much time you want to wait on it. i know a guy that has a dog and it never started going and hunting untill it was 3 years old. so be paticent and get 'em out. just remember when the tail gate drops the bull shit stops. i heard that on a coon hunting tape and i like it.!
