I heard Ratigan was talking about Basil that it just kills him to look foolish like he bullied him like calling him a freak and a loser. That if he won't work on a case he feels completely useless just like the way he did at the mousetrap. Which means Basil will get sick and dying with depression and even worst that he'll die from depression so he'll be placed in the cryogenic tank in his lab at the Baker Street.

I bet Ratigan might have toxins with madness when he's being refered a rat. That means he'll go mad and then die of toxins with madness.
