Have we really had River's cousin on here? Oh my god I don't know what to say if we have must get back to reality

I don't see what the problem is about the picture. Star magazine ran it to show teenagers the dangers of drugs and it hasn't broke the law or anything and I 100% agree with what his cousin said, losing your cousin is one thing but having a picture of his in his casket posted on a website for millioins to see probably is a matter of opinion.

those who don't agree with me and his cousin, just go somewhere else

I find it disgusting that someone would do that. His cousin was mad that the picture had been taken. He wants it off the web just as much as everyone else does. You shouln't need to show pictures of his dead body to point out drugs are bad, just the knowledge of his death alone and the cause should be enough.

You are right Lindsay. I do want the photo down as it is painful and disrespectful. Just because it was published in the Rag Mags 11 years ago does not mean it needed to be further exploited on the Net etc. We as a sociey had the powwr to stop it from being seen again, but we use the term "freedom of speech" too lightly.

Oh, FYI, I am female.

Oh c'mon guys its just plain wrong!! No one wants a picture of their cuz on their web if their cuz has passed on!! Its hard enough coming to terms with someone dying, then having it al over the papers!! I can kind of share your feelings about someone you love being exploited... One of my Mums best friends of 25 years died in the tsunami, her name was June Abyratne, and it was all over the front of the papers because of what she went through to save our alex!! so don't talk about things you don't understand you guys, it only leads to big fights!!

this photo should have never been taken, let alone published. it is really sad that this photo cannot be removed from the net, even if this site in time obliges there are alot of other sites who would show it (thanks to archives and the national enquirer's anniversary edition). same thing with the chris farley shots (not sure of the origin of those) or any of the other photos attributed to this and other sites.

the person who took this photo is scum, even by paparazzi standards, coz let us not forget that NO photographer took photos while he was dying outside the viper room (or if they did they had the decency not to sell them). if the issue of these photos had been dealt with 11 years ago then there might of been a chance that rivers family would not have to continue to suffer the implications of it. instead some yahoo tells the family there was nothing they could do when there were some legal options available that could have made the difference.

i agree that Rivers family wouldnt like the idea of their relations body shown in a graphical photo on a website but you have got to agree with "Nat", if people see this picture then it will make them realise what would happen to them if they took drugs.

p.s i dont like your attitude! if you want to slag someone off calling them "sick minded" and telling them to show respect then i think you should be kicked off the site because we are not here to have pitty arguments!! :(

Unanamoous said; "if people see this picture then it will make them realise what would happen to them if they took drugs."

Sad, but true . I have always supported the "Scared Straight" program. Juvenile and adults alike. Taking a walk into the coroners lab would make tough street girls vomit, and the tough street guys pass out. No lie. We should never, EVER, be afraid of death - and that is not the point of the program. But it DOES reflect the point that there are so many sad, if not gruesome, aspects to overdoses and drunk driving.

Bad enough when one does of an overdose of drink or drugs. A million times worse when he/she causes the death of an innocent victim.

i agree that in theory a photo such as this could prove to be a good visual aid in turning people away from drugs. however, if that was the case it should be with the permission of the family. some families have chosen to do this through these legitimate campaigns. rivers family were not given that choice, instead thier pain and humiliation will forever be plastered in some cheap tabloid rag. this photo was not taken with this honorable intention in mind let us not forget, it was taken for money alone.

also, if you have a problem with someone refering to another poster as being "sick minded" then this is clearly not the site for you. we have very strong opinions about these issues and we say what we think. this site is monitored (good job by the way jiggy!)and should someone cause problems i can assure you the post will be deleted.

in short, put up and shut up or go elsewhere.

Whoa - I must have missed this post somewhere along the lines, thanks for resurrecting it.

The biggest problem for many, Taz, is HOW the photo was gotten in the first place. Probably from a crude minded money grubbing bird brain willing to sell their own soul for a few bucks. Stupid. But here is where the logistics and government come in to play (like it or not) ...

In the state of Florida (where Rivers service was held), many strides have been taken in order to protect the privacy of the deceased. Case in point, do you remember Dale Earnhart, the race car driver killed in the Daytona race? Man, I hope I spelled that right! Anyway - his autopsy photos was banned from release by the family of Earnhart who petitioned the courts in that they remained sealed. And since that time, photographs from the death and autopsies of such famous people, and most recently Terri Schiavo, have been banned from "public record" although the tax payers dollars provide for the public elected coroner to do his/her job to begin with. A bunch of red tape, I know, but that's in a nutshell how it works. If any others would like to fill in the blanks, please feel free.

I realize that Rivers mother was grieving in ways I cannot comprehend when it came to her sons death. And in her letters to the public she expressed anger and resentment towards the government. And yet, the government in Florida, as well as the federal courts in the U.S. very well could have stopped the way the these photographs are reproduced without authorization/permission, just like Dale Earnhardt, just like Terri Schiavo. I would guess the unauthorized (that word being KEY) photo of River in his casket would fall under the same or similar guidelines akin to a clause in the lobby bill turned law. Just a guess though!

How can all you people say that RP is lying about whom they are.
Family members do come on sites you know.
Im mates with an actor and he always comes on sites.
But if RP isn't Rivers cosin then it is wrong to say that. I believe RP is.
When i was on a website i told some of the people i knew one of the actors which i do. They called me a lair. So thats why i believe RP.
Dont dis unless you have proof.

Well who cares if it is the cousin or not. whatever. "Hey, uhhh River's cousin I need proof of uhh the validity of your claim uhh that you are indeed a Phoenix family member. Scan your birth certificate biotch! NOW!!" hahah. Who cares???! Don't cry about it. My things is, are we that fucked as a society that you have to show young people a picture of a body that died because of drugs to get the message across that drugs are bad? How brain damaged are teenagers nowadays? I mean are they THAT severely retarded now?!! Hello! Drugs kill people. DUH! Don't be morons. The magazines did it to sell copies and make money out of peoples morbid curiousity ok. Let's be honest here. The whole thing was unnecessary, completely tasteless and disrespectful. And if you are THAT stupid that you have to see a picture of a dead person to understand that drugs are bad and that they kill people, you're a total moron, do us all a favor and put on a helmet so you don't hurt yourself walking down the street cause there are cars and they move and hit okie dokie? Duh duh ruh!!! Seriously. Only in America do you go to a restaurant and get a stirofoam cup of coffee with HOT!!HOT!!HOT! all around the cup. Oh the coffe is HOT!??? No shit sherlock! How embarrassing dude. We're total idiots.
