Do we really think that River's body of work is worthy of a star? Unfortunately I think he killed himself before he did his best work. You mention Elvis and Marilyn as having stars. Putting River in their league is way off base.

Not a star - no. Not even posthumously. I have to agree with Jiggy again - River is not within the same realm as Marilyn and Elvis. Not even close. I do agree that we hadn't gotten a chance to see his best performances. River before his death was "famous". But in the manner of his death, he now lives in "infamy". Two different things all together.

i take that as a no then.
But how are people meant to remember him.
I mean some people have benches or a tree or a star.
What does River have.
I think he should have something

Perhaps we name a rehab clinic or anti-drug program after him, kind of like the Betty Ford clinic. I'm sorry but he is not well known enough, not are his talents respected enough for any kind of a "big-scale" National recognition. Perhaps you are right, we name a bench or a tree after him somewhere in Hollywood, so that those who worship him can pay their respects. But, unfortunately, River will always be known as the kid actor who died on the sidewalk of The Viper Room.

It's time we move on and begin to realize that River is bigger and more famous in death than he was in life.

Exactly! And also - because I love animals more than humans sometimes , animal therapy is fantatic for rehab and depression. (Even prison inmates believe it or not - but that's beside the point.)

Keeping an animal therapy program within the context of an affordable rehab center in his name would be full circle. Sez me.
