| If you look at River's two death certificates, you will see some things that are not correct. First off, under Dispositions it reads: "TR/BU". That means transport for burial. No mention of cremation. River was embalmed because the embalmer at Forest Lawn signed the certificate. Plus, it's state law that a body can't be transported by plane or train unless it's embalmed (for health reasons). Secondly, the address of the Viper Room is wrong. It's listed at 8860, it should be 8852. Another thing is where is the Gainesville City Cemetery? I've been to Gainesville and no one has ever heard of it. Also, River's residence is listed as 3232 N.W. 35th Blvd. This is a business district and that address is a retail store. |

some people opt to have both embalment and cremation, it could also be that river's family originally wanted burial but later decided that it wasn't right for them as the grave could become a tourist spot and therefore felt cremation would be a "safer" option for them. |

If this is correct - and I'm sure it is as it makes perfect sense - then perhaps the funeral home did not do a very good job knowing he would be cremated. Maybe it was a rush job only for the sake of transportation - and not an actual viewing? I honestly do not know, and as sad as it is to say - it is an extremely POOR job on the emblamers part. It's obvious - no photo retouching necessary. Most morticians you meet take great care and pride in the final remains of a loved one - clearly, the mortician responsible for River did not gve the same consideration.
Sometimes family may request something special, but I don't see how in Rivers case. I attended a funeral recently in which a child being buried still had dirt under her fingernails. This was NOT because the funeral home did a bad job - but because the little girl had had a blast making mud pies earlier in the day. The family thought it personal, and a precious moment actually, to keep those little fingernails dirty - as the child was so happy and playful hours before. Sad huh? Movin' on ....
And just as Jimbo said, cremated remains can also be buried, which may explain the "Transport for Burial" on the paperwork.
I go on and on about this subject beccause there are waaaay too many urband legends being created over the simplest of things. |
