Hello to all

Hope ur well.I stumbled quite by accident onto this site and spent ages reading everyone's postings and replies. There seems to be so much on 'The Photo' and whether it should be on the site or not.I was a huge River fan and when I saw the link, I was shocked. I'm not a freak, but I am curious just to see it once, but after everyone saying it is horrific I don't know.Would anyone be able to describe what is on the picture? Is it a close up? People are saying his body was twisted and put in a chilling pose - what does that mean? Are his eyes or mouth open or something? I'm not trying to offend anybody here, I respect people's rights to do what they want to do.In my case, I'm just alittle curious as I'm sure alot of other people are, but want to know more about how 'bad' it is before they actually do it. Eitherlook at the photo or don't. What is the point of asking other people what it looks like?either look at it or ignore it altogether. the whole thing is too ghoulish for words.

Yes,you should see the pic if you want to know,there is no point of asking what it looks like!I was kinda curious and i saw it,but now i`m sorry that i did...I heard people saying its scary... To me it isn`t,its just odd,doesnt look like him,,,anyway,i wish i didnt see it!!

Actually, the photo is not as you described. It is simply River lieing in his coffin. No chilling pose, no twisted body. He's actually quite peaceful looking.

It would look like any other dead body, but knowing who it is makes it way more powerful. It's so sad, knowing that all the talent and dedication will stay there lifeless.

To tell the truth i wouldn't know i don't want to see River like that. I think it's sick if people keep looking at it and i think it's wrong that it's up everywhere.

Yeah well Elle, you get that! It is up everywhere, but think of this way, It dosnt make it right'! At leats River rests with the fact that he still has dedicated fans like people on this site! And people who are still tyring to help RP and her family get that photo down!

yea true, you got that one. Because really I think that is so wrond to have someone funeral photo online and that should be kept between the privact of those who were there!

the job of the paparazzi involves taking photographs of stars in compromising positions and as such have one of the most hated proffessions in the world. on the night river died, these photographers ignored thier job description and did not stoop so low as to take photographs of a dying man. so what does that tell us about the person(s) who were responsible for the coffin photo?

I was actually surprised to hear that they didnt take any photos of River on the sidewalk that night! Im so glad they didnt! It would have made matters 10 times worse for goodness sake! It shows yoy the papparazzi have a conscience, so they cant be that bad! But still, they are annoying as hell!

It did make me cry Im glad I've a better pic of him hanging on my wall.

Gee whiz Ally, for someone who likes to ridicule people over their obsession with River Phoenix, you sure do seem to be engaging in the same behavior. I have read over the posts for the last couple of weeks, some people write a post once a week, twice maybe. You are the only one who has posted a message every day. Maybe you should practice what you preach.

Ally, I can't speak for the others (no, I am not the same person as them), but I have no problem with you coming on here every day. The point I was trying to make, the point I think you completely missed, was that you like to tear into anyone who has something overly nice to say about River Phoenix, when I suspect that you indentify with those posters more than you are letting on. You say that you like to come on here to debate, but lashing out at EVERY person who seems to be a fan isn't debating, it's mean. I would guess by your last response, that you are a teenager, probably about 16 or 17. You probably think that you know every thing, that you are always right, and anyone who challenges you is automatically wrong. I know, I was your age once too, a very long time ago. I am not a child anymore, in fact, I was older than you are now when River Phoenix passed away. But you, you still have alot to learn, there are still many experiences that you have yet to have, and alot of growing up to do. In the meantime, I have some advice. Don't jump on everybody else's bandwagon, don't change your opinion every other day, and don't worry so much about making everyone like you, that you are willing to sacrifice your own views. If you feel a certain way, then say what's in you heart, no matter what others might think. I think you'll find that it will work out better for you.

I come on here everyday when I have nothing better to do! I like to hear peoples opinion on river and I either disagree or agree! but thats probably why most of you come on here too. It's crazy here we are 10 years after his death still talking about him and arguing over things about him and what happened the night he passed. I am so suprised they didn't take pictures of River phoenix dying! I guess some people know where to draw the line! I don't know about yall but I"m my own person and follow! And please no smart remarks what I wrote because really I'm not here to argue with others, just here to tell what I think!

Ok first, I was just typing on here and i saw a message to me in a post full of critisism! Did I deserve it? No! Do I even know Curious...? NO! So why dont u have a go at curious for starting things with people for no reason! All I did was stick up for myself!

I think the point is that allys posts have just become so critical of anyone who posts positive comments about River. I enjoy reading the debates on here but tend to ignore the ones that are tasteless,ie: swearing, I mean really, is that neccessary?

Well, the only thing more sickening than someone who is so negative about River is someone who is too positive about him and refuses to know or accept the truth.

ok, Jiggy I get your point, I am not one who worships River, I enjoy reading most posts on here, yes even YOURS, I am basically saying the same thing you are, I can do without the SILLY "I love River" comments. Wow, there's alot of fighting on this board. I get the feeling I may have contributed a bit. My apologies. I know I said that I was going to ignore Ally, but I can't. I really HATE it when people are mad at me, even if they don't know me in life. I'm really a nice person, honestly. Ok, I made a teensy, weensy comment to Ally, and then it snowballed. All I was trying to say to Ally was that sometimes, her posts are mean spirited, aimed directly at whomever posted something that she disagreed with. Quite obviously she doesn't like it when people post negatively about her so why would any of these other posters like it either? My point didn't get through, so I'll try another approach. I know how annoying it is when people come on here and talk about how much they LOVED River Phoenix, how they loved his smile, his hair,etc......Personally, I think that they are on the wrong message board. Here's the thing though, we don't know how old everyone is. I think, however, that it is important to remember that some of these people who post may be children, literally. If they are old enough to use a computer then they are old enough to be in this forum. So, we are talking about 8,9,10 year old kids posting here. I'm not an expert, but I don't think that many kids that age know how to make rational decisions, they don't have standards. All they know is that River Phoenix was cute, and he died because of drugs. Period. I'm not sure if they are able to go from point A to point B yet. Do you know what I mean? I know, it isn't our responsibilty to coddle this kids when they are online, I'm actually not sure how to handle their declarations of love. I just wanted to clarify my point, and to tell Ally that I'm sorry, and make my peace. Take care.
