I admit I haven't seen much of River's work. My interest in him came about about a year after my brother's death because I was trying to learn everything I could about drugs and overdoses. River was of course easily available to find out about. Long story short, I've learned he was a beautiful person. Kind, and caring. I watched Stand By Me tonight and the ending was rough. Watching him fade out like that...foreshadowing at best. The world is a little dimmer without him. Maybe I'm just emotional because it will be two since since my brother's death this week. I know my world is A LOT darker without him. I hope they both have found peace.

"The world is a little dimmer without him (Rio)"

Well, you know, when I get to think of Riv, I just go straightly to him and welcome him humbly in my every day life and, since I’ve been doing that, he’s made it warmer, brighter, gracer, splendent with sunshine!
Like the stars, have to shine from apart not to collide with each other or to burn planets of lives to ashes, River, your brother, for some reason or just for life, had to go.
Despite the pain, Love strengthens us and never lets us tear apart from our beloved and go to the place that is so dark it would annihilate us.

“I know my world is A LOT darker without him (your brother)”

Plea, remember that you are in the world as well as you’re a very significant part of it, and we're all...
once River said: " we're all worth millions of planets and stars and galaxies and universes"
If you’ll be with your brother loving him, cherishing him, you’re gonna keep sharing your lives together and you’re gonna give him the possibility to love U back. He will shine your way forever, and will never let shadows grow in your heart cuz there is where he’ll be searching for home by now, and will find it with your help. He already belongs to it.

...

“I hope they both have found peace”

“ I’ve learned that if you can’t get it all together to accomplish
this thing called peace, you do at least your part in your own life,
because that’s where you can truly make an immediate difference. I’d
like to stop all of the world wars, but that’s relly an impossible
endeavor for one person. But I can stop all of the wars in my
life. I can start with myself and improve my personal relationships
with everyone I’m in contact with.I’d like to stop world hunger and
famine, but one man single-handedly couldn’t possibly stop
everyone’s hunger. What I can do is spend my own time, energy, and
money enlightening others about the plight of the poor. And although
I can’t stop all cruelty to living creatures on the planet, I can be
kinder to every living creature in my life. Peace begins with you.
Now. We must light the lamp of our consciousness so that we never
react without thinking and questioning the means to get to the end
that we are seeking.”

On a site I found this Rio's quote. Hope you enjoy it. Take care. Many blesses. V.

"When the night has come/
And the land is dark/
And the moon is the only light we'll see/
No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid/
Just as long as you stand, stand by me..."

Hi there! I saw your pst and agree with you wholeheartedly. I have been a fan of River's since I was 12.

Also, I saw your login name. I asume you're an Ekoostik Hookah fan. I love them myself. Are you from the Ohio area?

Hello, Heather. I have listened to a lot of Hookah in the two years since my brother's untimely death. He was a HUGE fan of the band. I guess I feel closer to him through them if that at all makes since. I do enjoy them though. I do not live in Ohio but my brother did. One of his favorite songs was "Ohio Grown". He followed the band and went to many fests. I'm thinking of going to one myself!

First, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a loved one is so difficult.

I'm glad to hear that there are those who still dig EH. I have been to 2 Hookahvilles (in my younger, wilder days) and I would love to go again.

The first song I heard by them was "Stuck in the Snow"....it's still my favorite.

Have a good week!

Heather

Heather, how long has Ekoostik Hookah been around? As I previously stated I, myself, am not a big fan. I mainly listen to them because of Larry, my brother. He loved them. Therefore, I don't now a lot about them. I didn't know they've been around that long. Larry wanted us to go to a fest together. I was thinking about going on my own but I have mixed feelings as I know drugs run rather rampid at there fests (according to my friends and Larry used to tell me that himself). Anyway take care.

Anonymous, thank you for your condolences. I have become a major anti-drug freak since Larry's death. Funny how that happens. I wish I had been then maybe I could have done something. Anyway, thanks, your words are appreciated.

Ekoostic,

Yes, you'll need to brace yourself for drug use if you go to Hookahville. That is one of the main reasons I no longer attend. My recreational (and very limited) drug use stopped many years ago.

Please know that Hookahville is a great time. There are lots of vendors and everyone is so nice...a very peaceful group.

I first heard about Ekoostic Hookah from a friend in 1996, and I know they were around long before that...though I do believe they had a different singer. I only have 3 of their CDs, but would be happy to burn them for you if you don't have them all.

Take care!

Heather, thanks for the offer but I bought a few of their CD's already. I'm open to suggestions on really good songs of their's though. As for the fests, I haven't gone due the the drug usage. I'm not sure I can handle that. A friend of mine's son died at one of their fests (OD'D). He was only 17. I'm so anti-drugs now I don't think going to such as place would be wise at this time. Thanks for the posts. My computer isn't working correctly so it takes a few days to get on line. Somehow it got switched to safe mode and I have no idea how to get it back to normal. It's a windows ME. Sucks big time. Anyway, keep me posted on good songs. Take care.
