i think wat u said is not so much true and i am not only talking for myself but 4 many other fans of River Phoenix, he was 1 of the best actors i have seen and i truely didnt think he was that gorgeous in the first movie i seen him in, i think that it was only in some of his last movies is when he was actually liked for his looks. i know that u may find this hard 2 believe but not every1 is as shallow as u are accusing them of being.

Well infact, alot of people noticed river by younger days, back then looks wasnt an issue like it is today, the acting and his input into the movie was what was important, so i think ur so wrong on the fat think, and i think it is inapropriate of the wording u used to describe it, EG: John Candy was not a slim guy, and he was loved by so many people, then u have ELvis also, which every one loved till end even known that he had put on alot of weight, its not looks that count it was RIvers acting and achievements i dont think any one would care whether he had been chubby or not, he would have still be popular , he was destined to be famous.

I think this person is correct. There are very few Chris Farley discussion forums where girls Oooo and aaaaaah over his life. It's simply because River was attractive. A good looking guy who dies carries on a mystical attraction that young girls can't seem to repel. If River wan't good looking no one would care.

I am a fan of river and i actually didnt think he was MIGHTY GORGEOUS i mean u are all probably just jealous coz u know u couldnt possibly achieve half as much as he did but who knows maybe people arent as shallow as u make them, just rememba beauty is not just the surface

First of all you are judging so many ppl here, most of us are not as shallow as u think and it is so pathetic that u all are sitting here calling him a druggie, that is sad that u sit here and call a person of such love and greatness a druggie! love and greatness? whom did he love? it is clearly not himself, as he abused his own body with narcotics. clearly not his family, he chose not to stop, causing them the worst pain imaginable. he did not love his friends and co-workers, considering that state he turned up to work in.
how was this man great? that has to be the overstatement of the century. he was a fairly decent actor who supported charity. GAHNDI was great, NELSON MANDELA is great.
lastly, the word "druggie" was your term, not mine and not jiggy's. though as you mention it is there any better way to refer to someone who habitually uses drugs. how about drug addict, is that agreeable to you? would you excuse the habit of your local addict?

ACtually in the beginning i dont think he was that skinny to be honest, and i dont think he was actually good looking at all, he had greasy hair, open poors, and i didnt like his complexion at all, i was appealed to him cos when i saw and watch his movies there was some thing in his eyes, and some thing about them was appealing to me. There was a darkness or some thing in his eyes they were saying some thing else. I never actually though he was a good looking bloke, when he did u die, u can tell that he had been a previous drug taker, he had lost alot of weight, his skin was in bad condition, and his eyes (the whiteness had changed). He become almost became lifless in his eyes, He was nothing good to look at near the end, but he still had a heart of gold and did alot of things they meant alot to his fans and ppl he loved, its not about the looks, well maybe to some of u out there, but i see way beyond that, looks are not important to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Angel it is good that u do do ur research cos at least u have some info to back up ur point unlike Nat here. And in a matter of fact River in stand by me was actually chubby if u looked at his chest area and his legs u would see that he was not what hollywood would call skinny. (check out the part where leeches are in the movie there is a perfect look at him....

In my defense, I do not find River attractive, I love his name and the freedom that comes with such a heavy name, I think anyone with a name like River is bound for great things. I think joaquin is much more attractive, I just like River's spirit.
