Hey there! That's an easy mistake, really . One of the prettiest girls names I've ever heard (down south in Louisiana that is), is the name Joquil. But it is NOT pronounced "Wa-keel", but rather "Joe-kwil. Joquil is the name of a flower and is pronounced exactly how it's spelled. I want to say that Joquin is from a spanish derivation? Not sure.

"He likes to be called kitten : )"

Look, no offense to you at all, but I HATE it when I see people fall for that and call Joaquin "Kitten." He made one of his ever-frequent JOKES when he said -- ONE time in ONE interview a few YEARS ago -- that he never made "the ladies" try to pronounce his real name, telling them to call him "Kitten" instead. It was a JOKE, people. Joaquin is notorious for jokes like this. And he thinks it's hilarious when people fall for them. Remember we're talking about a grown man who still speaks in a made up language with a couple of his friends and says off the wall bizarre things (remember the "frog on my head" comment?) to amuse himself. You really can't take anything that boy says literally. But this is all just FYI -- I mean no harm. I always come in peace.

I totally agree. People are dipshits to take that seriously and obviously don't know much about his personality.

i read in one of the papers the other week and joaquin went into rehab for his drinking problem after the movie walk the line because the film was so much like his life with river dying.

That's also a load of shit. He did go to rehab for alcoholism but it had nothing to do with WTL making him feel any certain way about River.

Joaquin is a spanish name and he was named that because he was born in Puerto Rico.

He actually changed his name to ANTLEAF...not just LEAF. He changed it because of people not being able to pronounce his name correctly AND because of his sibiling beautiful names, and then again changed it back to Joaquin when he was in Mexico because translating ANTLEAF was difficult.

I don't know why he wasn't credited as "ANTLEAF". He isn't really known anywhere but in books as ever being "Leaf or Antleaf Phoenix" for that matter.

I read about his name being ANTLEAF in an interview with Joaquin so it has to be true.

A new interesting fact I guess. When he was asked why he choose "ANTLEAF" he said "Why not?"
