It clearly states on the death certificate what narcotics where in his system, there is cold hard evidence that he had a drug problem.

Personally i would have a lot more respect for her, what about you ?

To be honest he was old and wise enough to know what he was doing!..if she did know about it obviously she probably tried to help him but to no avail.

It must have been heartbreaking for her when he died and I can fully understand why she did'nt want to speak out about it.....it's none of our business really is it? It was a personal matter between themselves as a family and no one else!

Yeah its a family matter, i agree but Ma Phoenix used the public whenever she wanted and wasnt exactly slow to show River and his siblings off to the Hollywood scene when it suited her. His fans , in a roundabout way, paid for her comfortable lifestyle so she owes his fans some sort of closure.

Let me play devil's advocate for a moment here. I have to say that I don't think she or the family "owes" us anything. River was an actor. It was his job. Just like we all have jobs that help us pay taxes. We all pay taxes don't we so in a roundabout way we all help pay to provide for each other. So when a family member of yours dies do you "owe" us anything? Just because she encouraged his career (as most parents do) and just because his was a more public job doesn't entitle us to anything.
