I have one question. Why some people blame River cause he take the drugs and don 't blame someone like jonathan brandis who is killed himself? I know some fans to this jonathan brandis and his fans said forgive to him for his suicide because this people love him! So why if jonathan brandis s fans have forgive to him for his suicide why the people blame River cause of his death by overdose? Why the people don 't understand me when I said than never I can 't blame River even if I know he have take this tragic cocktail this tragic night even if I have suffer and I have hurt and I cry for River I can t blame him because I love River and than I can understand he have maybe need forget the pression and all and than I have never blame River because I love him of all my heart! So than I don 't have compassion for jonathan brandis because him he is killed himself without reason he have take his own life! So why this fans cry on jonathan brandis s suicide but forgive to him? Because they don't understand what its like to be an addict. I was a heroin and cocaine addict for 7 years. I am also from hollywood and god I know the pressures. I blame him in no way. I, like you, hurt for him and his family...he was such a talent...he was my 1st crush, Chris Chambers...I watched that movie atleast 100 times the summer it came to video. So to all that blame him, screw them...his soul and memory will live in our hearts always!

hi, i think a many peobles loves River and had forgive him. But i think river is killing his self too. It was his decision the drugs to be taken and so was it also to suicide. And that is hart to see and understand that he threw his live simply so away.

Well my english is not very good too so I hope you understand what I mean too. Sorry I don 't like very mutch jonathan brandis I think he is killing himself without resons! So many people suffer and fight for surviving in the world so someone like jonathan brandis who haved one happy life who was rich who is killing himself without resons available for me! For River is not the same thing maybe because I love River Phoenix and I understand him why he was fallen in the drugs because I think than his sad childhood in the children of god is one of this reasons. But I don 't think than River want to die he want only take something for forget the pression and unfortunatly was one cocktail dangerous. I forgive to River I will never blame him because I have always love him and I will always love him! But even if he want to die I forgive to River I thinking he was not happy with samantha mathis! Yes, river has no deserved to die, but unfortunately he is died. And I miss him too. he would have certainly still many mad films made, and fantastic Music. I love his songs and every day i heard his voice

There is some difference between the two popular people. One thing about River is that he was a true icon for his generation. By having been in the movie Stand By Me for instance fans of him were drawn to him in a more personal way. Unlike other celebrities people felt very close to him since he kind of grew up in front of the camera over time.

On top of that his past was so unusual compared to most average and celebrity families. Being in the cult The Church Of God made him seem so different and interesting compared to other's. Plus some how he was able to turn into a very strong personality who was strong in his convictions. Like being a vegetarian, and ecology issues. How many of celebrities actually make a stand in the compeition of being popular?

The last thing is that he was just coming into his own as a young adult. Who knows what heights he may have hit with his movie career or his rock band? Having died at such a young age there may have been forgiveness or maybe not, but there was definitely sorrow and disappointment from that. It was so tough to know he died so young, and seemingly such an emotional roller coaster from his past and his drug use.

Sorry I m nobody for judge Jonathan Brandis. Somewhere I understand him he have his reasons for killed himself.

I think with a certain mind set thinking perhaps of a tough circumstance it can destroy hope. It can be so hard to live with out hope. In River's case being stuck with addiction it seems like all hope was gone to where he was acting out trying to find an escape through taking drugs. What a terrible loss for such a talented young man.

River don't deserved to die! But I said the truth when I have said than I don't like jonathan brandis! I was have compassion for him but now than I know from his girfriend how he was really I have not compassion for him anymore!!!!!! I m sad for his girlfriend because she have many hurt cause of him! You seem to have this obsession that River's death wasn't his fault. He took the drugs himself. The person who gave him the drugs has a part but he didn't force River to take the drugs. You need help. You wont listen to anyone else and your posts contradict each other. I heard about what Jonathan's girlfriend said. It was'nt nice but who is perfect?! None of us are and it is not your place or anyone's to judge. Why was your heart broken? You never met him, you didn't know him like his friends knew him. You put these people on a pedestal and then when you hear something human about them like maybe they weren't angels you get all high drama and act like it was done personally to hurt you.
You obviously have some issues dealing with reality and you don't listen to what people are saying. Why would you be confused over Jonathan. As I said if you really feel that way about him then why go over to JB org and say that he was this and that. I didn't like the way you were putting yourself across.

She was his girlfriend, he saw something in her. This whole anti-Sam thing is beyond immaturity. Blaming the girlfriend who had to watch him die and still live with that nightmare goes beyond logic.

I love River, always have. I've seen every single movie he is in. But River took the drugs. PERIOD. Blaming her makes as much sense as blaming the man on the moon.

That's what's so sad about the River Phoenix story. He was such a great talent and had so much ahead of him. So much potential and promise. But drugs took all that away.
