She dies from "complications from cancer" in late June, yet she was in foal? This article, really no more than a press release, doesn't give any details at all. But this cancer that she had must have been quick onset and very aggressive, because they couldn't have bred her more than 5 months ago, and they surely wouldn't have bred her if they'd known she had this crap growing in her.
22 years old.....well yeah, that might raise some eyebrows, especially among the extremists. Thankfully, she's not really high-profile for them, so it likely will slip under their radar.
Hollywood Wildcat was a terrific racemare. I never forgave her for beating my namesake by a nose in the BC Distaff when Paseana was supposed to win her second BC Distaff. But Hollywood Wildcat was hickory on the track and she did pretty good in the shed as well. She's one of the few female Breeders Cup winners to produce a Breeders Cup winner.
Rest In Peace, Hollywood Wildcat. You were a very good girl.
