In anticipation of the English Derby this weekend, Ive been looking at Septimus. You can see 2 of his past races on video at racingpost.co.uk.
The pedigree jumped out at me. As I recall, the match of a Sadler's Wells out of Darshaan mares has been as sucessful a pairing as any in the last few years. I know that High Chapparal, Islington, and some goofball named Milan are on the list. Im sure there are others (one I recall betting in the BC Mile or F&M who finished 3rd a few years back too).

Anyway, anymore info on the pedigree would be appreciated. I thought I saw Archer around these parts recently and obviously if Hooper or anyone else could jump in.

Coolmore has been buying Darshaan mares for years to breed to their Northern Dancer line stallions. The Septimus breeding of 2x3 to ND is too close for my blood but you can't knock the results with G1 winners like High Chapparal,Islington,Ebadiyla,Alborada,Marienbard and Yesterday. Septimus should run all day and like some cut in the ground although his PP's indicate he runs better on the fast ground that he'll get on Saturday. Dam won at 10F as a 3yo. Appears to have a lot of Aga Khan blood in the female family.
Do I sense a small wager?
Hooper

Maybe a small wager. Looks like 6-1 on some of the English books right now. More just for future reference.

Yesterday was the other one I was thinking of. And it looks like theres an Arc winner on the list too. Interesting....very very interesting....

ML is 8-1...Fallon opted off for Horatio Nelson but Kinnane takes the mount....
