Poker vs. Red Bank StakesJuly 4 2012 at 11:37 AM

Sorta' a strange heading for a post but I thought I'd throw this out there.
I plan on playing the late Pick-4 at Belmont, which includes the Poker Stakes at one mile on the turf for $100K (5:06 pm ET). I'm not handicapping Monmouth, which includes the Red Bank Stakes at one mile on the turf for $100K (5:17 ET). A few horses were cross-entered in both and ended up either going to Belmont or Monmouth.
My point is that local media handicappers believe Compliance Officer has a decent shot to win the Poker Stakes today (one I will be using, but a couple others look good, also). But I thought Lubash, who runs in the Red Bank, ran a much stronger race against Compliance Officer in their last start (though CO won the race).
May not mean diddly later if CO gets trounced in the Poker (though that may mean Lubash is not that good), but if he runs a good race today, you may have time to swing over to Monmouth to toss a couple of bucks on Lubash.
Disclaimer: I have no idea of odds on either one.
Have a great July 4th everyone!
