That is awesome news!!! Was this an online tournament or something? I don't follow tournament play so I'm unaware if today was some big tourney or something. Great news though my friend.
Thanks, Mike. It was an online qualifier. I made it last year and probably had the best horse racing experince of my life at Churchill last year. View from the tournament room was right over the finish line at Breeder's Cup for both Friday and Saturday. The only downside is that security is very tight in that area making it hard to get around.
Have never been to Santa Anita. Told the boy he is going to Disney Land!
'Shoes, Boozer, Elk, Warren- Thanks for the kind words.
JMAN- feel blessed to get to head to another Breeder's Cup event and hope to improve on my placing last year (20th out of 100). It is really hard to wrap your head around the minimum wagering requirements. I think it is $500 per race on Friday and $700 on Sat. The good news is that of the 10k, $2500 goes to the prize pool and $7,500 is essentially in your pocket as a real live bankroll.
Reviewer- it took a ridiculous comeback to have any chance. I just remember after catching the 15-1 horse I was still only in 6th place and remembered thinking that I would have to win both the last two races to win the prize. That is probably as much pressure as I have ever felt in an online tournament setting. But as we both know, it is never over until the last race is in the books. BTW, it is actually a different Greg that won this time around. Would not surprise me at all, though, if Greg qualifies.
Eddie- I am definitely hoping you find your way to the winners circle in one of these qualifiers. Saw your recent success in an NHC preliminary, congrats to you as well.
Congrats Jason.
Well done!!!
I liked Loch Dubh too, I had him in the Equibase thingee and also some $$$ for real.
He'll run big next out.
Good luck to you and again, WAY TO KICK SOME A**!!!!!!!
Thanks, guys. Hope others will give the online qualifier a shot as this is a great event. The guy that runs the live event tournament at the BC is Tim Schram, who in addition to being a great guy always makes sure his players have a top notch experience.
If you are not familiar with online contests, I would recommend the August 2 round qualifier system as it is only $100 to take a shot. Make the top 10% in the first round and you get in for a shot at the dance at the end of the month. The 1 day qualifiers are a bit costly at $400 a pop. Here is a schedule of the remaining qualifiers.
July 21:
(ONE DAY - 160 max entries - max 5 spots awarded), $400/entry
AUGUST TWO-ROUND FORMAT
August 4:
Round 1 (max 300 entries, $100/entry)
August 11:
Round 1 (max 300 entries, $100/entry)
August 18:
Round 1 (max 300 entries, $100/entry)
August 25:
Round 2 (max 7 (Seven) qualifying spots awarded)
SEPTEMBER ONE-DAY FORMAT
September 1:
(ONE DAY - 160 max entries - max 5 spots awarded), $400/entry
September 15:
(ONE DAY - 160 max entries - max 5 spots awarded), $400/entry
OCTOBER ONE-DAY FORMAT
October 6:
(ONE DAY - 160 max entries - max 5 spots awarded), $400/entry

Hoop- Any video of me dancing should be destroyed quickly. Unfortunately, my son has inherited his dancing skills from me, so the sight would be quite comical.
Now the two year old girl does show some promise.
