The Sprint Eclipse Award

It's hard to figure out what happens with this one now.

I think there's enough LITF skeptics out there in the voting ranks that his rather crushing defeat yesterday will probably work to deny him the award, in spite of a 10-11 record.

The problem is, who else?

All year long, the older sprinters have either fallen by the wayside due to injury and/or retirement, and the ones that are left have just beaten each other. I may be forgetting somebody, but I don't think I recall one sprinter winning more than one major race all year.

Traditionally, the Eclipse goes to the BC Sprint winner, but it's pretty hard to imagine Silver Train winning the statue. If he doesn't get it, and Lost In The Fog is denied, which I think there's a good chance he will be, it seems that the only one left is Taste Of Paradise.

He did win the Vosburgh, and most people, including me, feel he was tons the best in the race yesterday.

Will that be good enough to win him the hardware?

Is there anyone else out there that deserves it more?

I think LTF gets it despite yesterday. I didn't expect him to win like most people here, but a defeat after the long winning coast-to-coast season like he's put in makes up for a lot, and no other sprinter has come close to that.

I also think Silver Train should have been taken down yesterday; but that's only because I had quite a bit on Taste of Paradise.

Good point Wishbone. In thinking about this question, I was focusing on Foggy's loss, and kind of forgetting about his essentially year-long campaign with what.....7 trips across the country, and winning all his starts but one.

Maybe he will win it. I hope so.

By the way, sorry about the tough beat. Taste Of Paradise was the best horse, hands down.
