Handicappers Helping Horses, our annual charity gig here at UIC, where teams of handicappers craft brilliant wagers whose winning results go to a worthy charity supporting retired racehorses.

last year-

I'd like to sponsor the BC Filly & Mare Turf, and would ask the following UIC members to help me handicap the wager(it will be a triple part-wheel):

Please let me know your availability on this thread so we can move forward.

I'll put up the funds for a $1 four-horse trifecta box in the Sprint. So I'm looking for two volunteers to be on my squad and offer their handicapping opinions.

I'll volunteer for the Sprint, Lance. I love that race.....always have. And I think it's going to be a shoot-out this year.

Thanks, Pas. We just need one more volunteer for the Sprint, and we're ready to roll.

SEEKING SIX UpInClass MEMBERS TO SERVE ON HHH TEAMS.
I can sponsor a couple tri-box wagers for a shot at Handicappers Helping Horses.
If you are not on another team and can offer your handicapping skills... lemme know. Thanks.

Since the F&M Turf is on Friday, I think I could offer any perils of wisdom I may or may not uncover for a race on Saturday.

Bev, Bob and Ozzy...I'll start a new thread where we can brainstorm up until race day. Post positions are drawn Tuesday the 21st, I believe, so I hope we can have a final product by Thursday evening. PPs (free?) of potential participants are available at brisnet.com and the following link will take you to the Downey Profile; he has a very comprehensive and easy to navigate site.

Hey Pas: It looks like it's just you and me in the Sprint (unless someone else wants to jump on board). How about I pick two horses and you pick two -- and those four runners will comprise our $1 tri box, which I'll put in.

I'm going with In Summation and Fatal Bullet. Your move...

Yo, Pas. I'm dropping Fatal Bullet. He really struggled over the Pro Ride surface in his latest work.

Fabulous Strike takes his place.

Lance, this is so bizarre!

You originally picked In Summation and Fatal Bullet. In Summation is my top pick in here! Then, you ditch Fatal Bullet for Fabulous Strike. Fabulous Strike is my second choice! We're on the SAME TWO HORSES! Eeeeks!

So, we need to come up with two more. Midnight Lute and Street Boss are just terrifying when considering leaving them both off the board, but they will both be well bet, as will Fabulous Strike.......In Summation might actually be the longest price of the four of them.

Can we consider Cost Of Freedom? He was claimed for $50K three back, but wheeled back in 12 days to win a N1X at a pretty inflated purse of $70K+ with a career top 110. He was thrown into a GI 6 weeks later, and promptly paired that up. He was bet in that race too, btw...just a little under 6/1. He just might give us some price boost in here, and I'd like to use him.

The other one that, because of the other firepower out there, might be underbet a little is First Defense. Bobby doesn't have him in here just to stretch his legs, and I think Unusual Pete just might be right when he says that Frankel could possibly have a "Man-o-Mandella of a Day"!

Choosing between Midnight Lute and Street Boss, I would go with Street Boss. The issues 'Lute has had recently and throughout his career concern me, and I'd say that between the two faves, Street Boss is the right one.

I'm looking at In Summation, Fabulous Strike, Street Boss, and either Cost Of Freedom or First Defense.

Talk to me Lance!

Late Edit:

Lance, because we so strangely ended up on the same horses in here, I will put in a second wager for the Exceller Fund. I'll play a $1 tri using In Summation and Fabulous Strike back and forth in the first and second spots and hit the "all" for third. I luck out with this one because the field is pretty small, so my contribution is only $14. Superstition isn't something that dogs me in any other part of my life except horseracing, but this is horseracing, and if In Summation and Fabulous Strike should finish 1-2 and we lose that tri because of a horse we didn't cover, I'd feel pretty lousy.

I love this game!

I like Cost of Freedom a little more than First Defence. He took the worst of it in the post-position draw, but he IS razor sharp right now. Let's use him and hope that Midnight Lute just isn't the same horse he was last year (because if he is, they're all running for 2nd).

I'll put the ticket in on Saturday morn. Thanks for your input!

Pas: I substituted Midnight Lute for the scratched Cost Of Freedom, but it didn't matter anyway when the horse I originally liked, Fatal Bullet, ran a great 2nd. That said, it's been a banner year for me at the windows, so I've decided to donate the amount of the winning trifecta ($62) to the Exceller fund. These horses have been so good to me and my family this year.

Take care, and thanks for the dialogue.
