Does Curlin Really Have to Run?

His work today was really great....I don't think the connections have any excuse because of the surface. But does he really have to run?

Big Brown is out. He is the only horse that really threatened Curlin's HOTY title. Curlin could run in the Classic and lose, and still get the Eclipse, so if the connections hate the synthetic.....if they don't want to run.....why should they?

A win for Curlin would mean another 3M in earnings.....a huge number to be sure, but it's not Jess Jackson's main focus. At this point, the main focus is keeping this horse together in a racing campaign that never would have happened except for the legal entanglements of his ownership.

With a 45M settlement hanging over the heads of Curlin's 20% ownership, and under appeal, there's no major stud farm that will touch him.

Isn't it funny the we racing fans are the beneficiaries. We've seen Curlin run at 4, and gosh darn it, we might see him run at 5!

Funny isn't it....just because of a couple of scum-bags who have been sitting in jail for the last year or so, we have been treated to a very special horse.

Sometimes things just happen!
