A very very heavy favorite ran in the Distaff and appeared to be unbeatable. Yet, She ran 7th beaten by Spain, a horse who had been written up as having had trouble with her 3 year old associates.
Riboletta had won seven consecutive starts on dirt before the Distaff. Jones supplemented her into the race at a cost of $400,000.
