Just curious if there were any Pyro fans still out there in the Fake Dirt Mile? For those of you who prefer to use the sheets, I have a few questions that I want to throw out there:
1) Pyro ran a negative 1/2 in the Indiana Derby after a pretty horrendous trip (5 wide off the turn). Even late in the year, do three year olds tend to pair up efforts like this back-to-back? If so, I think a pair up puts him in or near the winner's circle Saturday?
2) Much has been made about Pyro's dismal effort in the Blue Grass Stakes. If we toss that effort, would it be fair to say that offspring of Pulpit fare well on synthetic surfaces?
3) Based on Pyro's poor BG effort, would it be safe to say that you are going to get a premium on his odds prior to the race...20-1?
*His best efforts have come around 8.5 furlongs (La. Derby, Risen Star, Indy Derby, BC Juvenile)
*He is working well enough that Asmussen decided to take a shot here rather than just skip and wait for the Clark or Cigar.
*This Dirt Mile field, while contentious, doesn't have any world beaters here.
