one of our members has come upon some hard times....Spanky, the thrilla from amarilla, will be undergoing triple bypass surgery in the next few days....I rec'd email from him last nite as to why he hasn't been around & won't be for a bit....please send your prayer & good wishes his way...the best thing about this forum family is how we've always circled wagons to help a brother or sister...if anyone would like to drop him a card or a line email me & I'll forward you his address.
I want to wish you good luck on your surgery... AND Happy Breeders' Cup weekend.
We all look forward to you getting healthy and well, so you can feel better
and return to the forum bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, my friend!
My very best to you and those you love, Spanky. I'm rootin' for you!
Spanky has become a good online friend, thanks to this website.
We communicated prior about his situation, though it may have worsened(at least he played it off to me optimistically).
He is a top shelf sports capper, knows more about racing than he lets on, and loves his music.
An all-around great guy who helps balance this diverse group.
I am truly thankful for UIC and can't really express how much your thoughts mean...(ok, I'm not to big to admit they have me a bit misty eyed)
Just a quick update...being a part of the 40 something uninsured I'm still awaiting the surgery and wrangling with the red tape required to get the operation done. It's a nightmare I wouldn't wish on anyone but with bit of luck and a lot of faith I'm looking forward to getting back to my old self as soon as possible...thanks to everyone for your kind words and prayers and I'll be back asap....
I took a pass on the BC so I wasn't aware of what's been going on on this forum. Let me chime in with my belated, "Get well soon, Spanky!"
Spanky, fwiw, I know you're from Texas but I specialize in individual and small group health insurance here in NJ. I realize the two states have different healthcare plans, but if you need questions answered in a hurry and you're not getting them from your contacts back home, let me know and I'll put in an urgent call to my General Agent, who has contacts throughout the country. Seriously...
Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season and express my appreciation for all the kind messages while I was off joining the "Zipper Club". The Spankster is back on track and looking forward to catching up on the ponies...
That's great news, Gene! I'm glad everything turned out well, you gave us quite a scare, son. Now get back on that horse, but you don't have to try Grade I company right off the bat. Tampa Bay Downs is open, for example
Indeed, welcome back Spanky! The Spring preps are right around the corner and I suspect you'll bounce back better than ever when the serious running begins.
