No contests, no anything other than your winning plays on the day. Think I am going to use the parlay again, 4 horse tris, and WPS on a couple of price horses.

Parlay: One Union, My Pal Charlie, Precious Kitten, Midshipman, Donativum, Street Boss, Out of Control, Go Between

Marathon: Doubt I play but winner, Sixities Icon

Turf Sprint: Euro to win in Fleeting Spirit with One Union, Get Funky, True To Tradition. Winner, Fleeting Spirit.

Dirt Mile: Love My Pal Charlie but hard to get past Well Armed. Albertus Maximus looks great too and maybe Lewis Michael, can't decide on a 4th. Winner Well Armed

Mile: Race to play and win big. Filly is hickory here but like Precious Kitten a lot as well. Big on Daytona all year and going with him over Whatthescript simply because of the draw. Tough to ignore Kip as well. Winner Goldikova

Juvy: Midshipman over Bushranger, Street Hero. Papa Mandella in the tri and super with a huge price in Mine That Bird. Winner Midshipman

Juvy Turf: Donativum won an ALLOWANCE race worth $1.775 million with 24 starters last out!!! Also using Coronet of a Baron and Bittel Road. Winner, Donativum

Sprint: Stated my case already but can see In Summation making noise too and small tri using him with my pick Fabulous Strike and Street Boss. Winner Fab Strike

Turf: Want to beat Soldier of Fortune in the heat but not sure. Contrary to the Form, he WILL go first-time Lasix. Loved Out of Control's last so using, think Dancing Forever can run on firm too at a huge price but my pick is the 3YO Conduit. Youngsters can do well in this race and Euros always do well. Losing Dettori doesn't hurt given he gets his regular rider back. This race always provides so much grief for me though so treading lightly. Winner, Conduit.

Classic: It's either all Curlin or he's off the board. Nothing to suggest he won't win, but have to find some value too. Go Between is a synthetic specialist, is fresh and can get the distance. Like Tiago, not sure about 1 1/4 though. Not big on the Euros, but would be on Duke if he hadn't went in Arc. Still think lone speed Fairbanks has a shot but not as much given the way the track played Friday. Colonel John, well, let's see how Well Armed runs first. They say Champs Elysees is tearing it up too and had a nice race in the Big Cap. Well, since a case has been made for just about everyone... Using Curlin over Go Between, Colonel John, and maybe Fairbanks if speed does better, if not then Champs. Winner, Curlin.

Best of luck to everyone, time to get racin'!

A number of fine picks Ozzy. After being shut out yesterday after being very confident going in i have reviewed by picks based upon what seems to me to be speed not holding up contrary to what i had expected so i am taking some that might seem as no hopers based upon some history of late pace strength. also think in terms of the downhill turf sprint that those horses and jocks with experieince at Santa Anita have a decided advantage.

Soooooo:

Turf Sprint: Storm treasure, diabolical and One Union on top and a number underneath in an exacta. I have always liked Storm Treasure and he has some very nice late pace numbers. At the same time, he does look like the 20-1 morning line is well deserved. Diabolical might just like getting back to the US and has some great past perfs in sprints. One union looks like he is peaking now.

Dirt Mile: Slews Tizzy, Two Step Salsa, Well Armed REbellion and My Pal Charlie on top in an exacta with each other and with Pyro at 20-1!!! added underneath.

Mile: 3,4,7,9,11 over same adding Shakis on bottom in exacta $50 wager i always like Desormeaux in a big grass race, P.Kitten got screwed in last years turf BCup by being carried way out so this is her chance to make it up.

Juvy: Midshipman and the sire lion heart on top (# 5&6)

Juvy Turf: skipped this one altogether

Sprint: 5,7,8 over all. Going for prices, and some back class. Nothing against the others as many in here have shown great speed but at this point, i need to go yard!

Turf: Spring House and out of control. Local horses, and trainers to upset history trends here. Nice prices on both.

Classic: Duke and Champs on some minor exactas to try to beat Curlin. didn't invest too much in this one as i think it is more one to watch. If i get lucky great, if not i will enjoy the race.

good luck to all.

Marathon: Leaning heavily on the favorite in pick threes with small savers on the six and eight.

Turf Sprint: Majority of the action goes through Diabolical and Get Funky. 10 cent all-closer supers.

Pick of the day Diabolical goes down in a heartbreaker. Didn't see the winner coming from that far back for me to use on a might-have-been super ticket.

Dirt Mile: Heavier on Lewis Michael and Surf Cat pick threes with small Well-Armed saver.

Leaned on Midshipman as a virtual single and caught the 4-5-6 pick four for about one tenth of Shillito's hit. Alive in pick threes to the 2-3-4 and one thin pick four ticket to Curlin, whom I hope to be able to ignore from this point on.

Trying for a second-half comeback. We're going into the Sprint now, and I'm on my final leg of a $10 pick-3 to Fabulous Strike and Midnight Lute. I also have those two -- plus Street Hero and In Summation -- alive in multiple pick-4's, all ending WITHOUT Curlin.

Good luck to all. Let's hit some winners!

It's all or nothing time...

October 25 2008, 6:17 PM

Going into the Classic, I'm alive in the pick-4 to pretty much everyone but Curlin -- including to several horses multiple times (e.g., 6 times to Go Between and Colonel John, 3 times to the Euros, etc.)

If Curlin beats me, I'll just tip my cap to one of the all-time greats. Good luck to all.

Midshipman

October 25 2008, 11:23 PM

Wow, just great news to read on the likely 2YO champ. Sheikh Mo is just dead set on doing it his way....... From the DRF

Where and how Midshipman prepares for next year's Kentucky Derby is uncertain. John Ferguson, a racing adviser for Sheikh Mohammed said "there's every possibility" the horse could winter in Dubai and be transferred to trainer Saeed bin Suroor, but "nothing's definite."

Excellent job spotting 4 winners on top, Ozzy! Just retrospectively checked the 29 cappers in DRF yesterday and you would have led their parade as they had 2 with 3 winners, 4 with 2 winners, 17 with 1 and 7 got shut out. Hope you made some cash.

Re: Saturday Plays

Larry thanks! Yeah, good day but not great. Nice to pick winners and get paid but the Pick 3 payouts I hit were small and in retrospect, it may have just been better to have parlayed the win money in succession, but those are the breaks. Couldn't cash a big tri or super as was always missing one horse and the Turf is the one I am most sick over. Much of the credit goes to each and everyone on this forum as points made here open my eyes to things I haven't seen in my review of the races.

I am not a Pick 6 player by any means but my little $4 ticket with 5 singles and 1 "spread" of Street Boss,Fabulous Strike, sure had the table excited. Biggest score of the day was Ball Four at Keeneland. Nothing special really just an old angle, first time Lasix on an old gelding. Made the bet just as they opened the gates. Glad to hear Dr. Pleasure is doing well after a horrific crash.

On a side note, great to catch up with Paris Bob as well!

Thanks, Sammy. I remember your "I will bet against Curlin" post from way back when. Congrats on the bold call.

And congrats to Ozzy too for some excellent selections.
