RACE 2
I missed the shot of the Turf Sprint winner, Desert Code [$75.00].
Caught a nice picture of Mr. Dettori aboard 2nd place finisher, DIABOLICAL.
Exacta paid $393.10 for $1
Also Ran:
Antifreezette's favorite jockey, Jose Valdivia, Jr., aboard Get Funky...
Q: Hey, Jose... how do you like your chances in the race?
A: ...about this much.
Sorry he didn't run better for you, Heather. You'll get'em next time!
RACE 3
Call him grumpy or intense... Bobby Frankel is one heck of a character.
Heading to the Walking Ring, Frankel gives Tyler Baze
a stern talking to as he lays out the race plan for Mast Track.
Tyler ultimately ran into traffic and finished 5th.
Lewis Michael looked great going to post,
but couldn't get the job done for his backers...
Onto the backstretch, it was #5 Two Step Salsa, #2 Surf Cat, and #1 Lewis Michael leading the way.
Into the far turn, #7 ALBERTUS MAXIMUS is near the back of the pack...
but look how high in the saddle Garrett Gomez is riding. He's got the horse!
The field turns for home and in the end...
it was all ALBERTUS MAXIMUS [$14.60] and Garrett Gomez winning the BC Dirt Mile.
RACE 4
This was going to be my Eclipse Award winning photo...
Unfortunately, this guy's BIG HEAD is in the darn way!!!
3yo filly, #4 GOLDIKOVA (IRE), powers past the field to take the BC Mile.
(if you look close, you can see a bit of her shadow and the tip of her tail)
RACE 5
Approaching the gate for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile...
An'awaytheygo!
Turning for home...
Garrett Gomez and #11 MIDSHIPMAN
take Juvenile honors for trainer, Bob Baffert.
RACE 6
They're Off in the Juvenile Turf...
Into the far turn...
Spinning out of the turn...
DETTORI about to make another winning move... [/IMG]
#4 DONATIVUM (GB) wins the second running of the Juvenile Turf and pays $13.60.
RACE 7
BC SPRINT
Fatal Bullet (light orange) tries to take them all the way...
but here comes Midnight Lute (dark orange), flying in the lane...
#4 MIDNIGHT LUTE... CRUSHING THE COMPETITION!
RACE 8
2008 Breeders' Cup Turf
After starting halfway up the hill,
the runners cross the dirt onto the main turf course...
Around the far turn...
CONDUIT (IRE) and jockey Ryan Moore win, paying $13.60
Dell, those are just terrific pictures from start to finish, but my favorite one of all, strangely enough, is the first one. That is just such a wonderful picture of the Seabiscuit statue in the walking ring with the Breeders Cup Classic blanket over his back!
It's now installed as my desktop wallpaper, and something tells me it will be there for a while!
