I don't know if its been mentioned or not but a lot of the euros were first time lasix, normally a pretty standard betting angle.Does anyone else out there think that this had an effect on the performances they turned in?
I think the stats are there to support it is fairly common to see some improvement with first time Lasix. I know it is particularly true in older horses receiving Lasix first time, especially older geldings (see Ball Four as an example in the Fayette on Saturday). I think it was a must for the Europeans on Saturday given the heat at Oak Tree simply to level the playing field and not put a horse at a disadvantage to start, but according to the Form, neither Eagle Mountain nor Conduit in the Turf, nor Duke of Marmalade ran on Lasix. Soldier of Fortune and Red Rock Canyon in the Turf and Raven's Pass and Henrythenavigator did run 1st time Lasix. The exacta in both key races with vastly differing therapies, thus the debate continues.
Also, according to the Form, Goldikova nor Westphalia, nor Donativum ran on Lasix.
