yesterday, I was offered premium box seats for the up-coming running. Have to pay for them, with a 2-day package @ $920 per seat.

Anyone else aware of this rate--and what kind of seating would I get? Since this is more than I pay for 3rd floor box seats for the Derby/Oaks, I was somewhat surprised.

Still-I like Santa Anita, and so does my wife.
Hopefully this would be a guys only weekend.
Spider returns 2 Pasadena--cool!
BC rates at the Ritz?

BC @ Santa Anita... MAYBE NOT!

April 20 2009, 3:12 PM

SJ... it really is not necessary to pay those kind of prices.
Unless one insists upon sitting with the big shot/mucky muck types,
there are far less expensive ways to enjoy the BC @ Santa Anita.

Too much to see and do at the race track... Why be stuck all day in a $450 seat???
Come on down to the Far Turn and set up camp with Badactor & Antifreezete!

You see... I just saved you about a grand! wink.gif

BTW...
You may end up making plans for Churchill Downs.

2009 Breeders' Cup could move to Churchill

Breeders' Cup Ltd. has placed an April 30 deadline on resolving issues surrounding the bankruptcy of Magna Entertainment or it will move the 2009 event from Magna's Santa Anita Park on Nov. 6-7 to Churchill Downs in Louisville, officials involved in the ongoing process said Monday.

thanx for the input and offer, badactor.
I checked with my friend, and he is bringing his wife and staying for a week. Sitting in the premium box is pricey, though I would be sitting with a very cool group of people(all very connected). After a few years of "tailgating" at Royal Ascot and terrorizing the restaurants etc.of London and Scotland, I have grown to understand and appreciate these horsepeople.

Still--hanging out with you and other forum members is equally appealing. I would enjoy meeting the west coast group.
I am comfortable on the private top floors as well as with the degenerate railbirds with whom I started.

I think that I will sit back and hope for the venue switch(though chances for that are slim).
