Who would be qualified?

May 13 2008, 2:31 PM

I am quite certain that nobody felt qualified to write the biography, and indeed, other than Edmund Jr. nobody would be qualified.

A multi-faceted man...

May 13 2008, 10:27 PM

So many who knew him have very different impressions of him, along with conflicting recollections of his preferences and perspectives. His biography seems to depend largely on who you ask. Who would be the final arbitor of the "truth" for his bio? Sticky one, that.

Ed Parker

May 14 2008, 7:11 AM

Hi.

No, not an oversight. More like an all or nothing. Edmund Parker Jr. is writing the forward for the book. That's as close as I can get.

I know of at least two kenpo seniors who are writing books about their experiences with Mr. Parker. I'm sure they will be great books with much insight. It would take more than a short couple of pages to capture even part of what he was to so many people.

Memories... By Leilani Parker

May 14 2008, 12:40 PM

Leilani Parker was the wife of Ed Parker Sr. for nearly 40 years. As they always say, "Behind every great man, stands a great woman", and Leilani was no exception. Many do not realize much of the strength Ed Parker had, can be attributed to his wife, Leilani. People forget who manned the business while Ed Parker was out servicing the world. Today, with the help of her family and the Kenpo family, she has managed to keep her husband's legacy operating. With many rare photographs, this book captures Parker like no other.

Need pictures from these people

May 14 2008, 8:47 AM

There are a few people's pictures I'm having trouble locating. I think Edmund has some of them, but I'm not sure. If you are on this list, please send me a picture at kenpokaratechick@gmail.com, even if you already sent it. I've sent an email to Edmund to get any other portraits he might have, but better to have it twice then not at all.

Going to Press!

May 22 2008, 4:44 PM

Woo Hoo!

My layout person is done with everything but the table of contents and index. She needs me to check it first. I have all but one picture and I can't reach that person, so we're going to print anyway.

It's looking like it'll be a little over 300 pages and as soon as I do the run-through and make sure it looks like it should, it's going to press.

I'll send an announcement and post it on the boards both when it goes to press and when I get them in my hot little hands.

Until it comes back from the printer, you can still order the books at the $15 price with no shipping. That changes when I get them in my hands. There are only a limited number of copies being made, so if you're interested, get them now or they'll be gone.

www.sacramentokenpokarate.com/kenpocontinuum.html.

It's looking really good.

That is nice Amy, I am sure it will be a good one and I am looking forward to reading about many that have posted or I have seen names yet am not aware of their background.
