IE 8. Better than 7?

I was curious if the upgrade is really an upgrade worth the effort on my XP machine now running 7. Seven is a fair bit better than 6 but that doesn't mean the same can be said for going from 7 to 8. I'm one of those who likes to let everyone else be the guinea pigs for new releases of anything. Any insight from anyone who has made the switch to IE 8 is appreciated. Thank you. And bless your bravery for keeping up with the latest!

Firefox still has massive leaking memory problems. Better than IE but that is like saying a punch in the mouth is better than a poke in the eye. Mosaic based with no improvements. I still use it but not happily.

Google chrome installs that dayum Google Update TSR. I prefer to do my own updating, thank you very much, Google. Opera is a nice choice. So is SeaMonkey (still Mosaic based.)

But on topic - IE? ARGH!

Firefox has been around for a long time, and it's probably the most respected browser around the tech community. Google Chrome is making great strides, though. Since they didn't build it on a previous browser, Google was able to implement several things that have made it run quite a bit faster than the Firefox or IE. Still, it has a few glitches. I keep Chrome and Firefox both installed just in case, but Chrome has become my browser of choice.

I've still got Internet Explorer 6 on my old compter and it works fine.Updater is always trying to make me upgrade to 7 and I did about a month ago and my musicmatch wouldn't work anymore.I couldn't even find any of my songs so I deleted the stupid explorer 7 and re-installed 6 and now my musicmatch works again. I think Microsoft needs to stick it up their butts when they keep coming out with these new releases that won't work with everything you already have.I had to stop updater from checking for updates because it was almost a weekly thing with them trying to make me upgrade.

IE 8 is superior to IE 7 IMO due to the fact that it is more secure (supposedly). However, I prefer Firefox. Chrome is gaining headway but dang if I'm not just a tad bit suspicious of the Google crowd. Knowledge is power and they have pretty much cornered the information market.
