Response to Mysterious automatic cannon

1. There is a SURVIVOR at the Navy Museum in Den Helder (now, who is there first to take some pics???). It can be found on the archives site. It is listed btw as "American Amusement Corporation"!

2. Check out this fantastic picture. I took it from Vloot Vereeuwigd 1868-1968. Honder jaar Koninklijke Marine in foto (de Bles, Boven, Homburg) for which I apologize. A great book, a must have for Navy buffs, a treasure full of pics.

The caption says nothing about the gun, just the year: 1948. It mentions the story of the HDMLs.
But look at that pic: a patrol up river (Sumatra?), the crew armed to the teeth, the enemy lurking in the thick jungle on both sides of the river...
This is the Heart of Darkness, this is Apocalypse Now! You can hear the hearts beating, while the crew play cool (sigarette in mouth, both hands on the ex-KNIL Schmeisser SMG). Note the pre-war Dutch helmets. Then the AAC 37mm behind shield.
