Interesting to see they had so many men stationed there. The bulk on S Vicente, which makes sense as it was/is the best harbour of the archipelago.
Nowadays Santiago has become the main island, much to the chagrin of the people of S Vicente.
The relative importance of Sal is intriguing. I am not sure if that island already had an important airfield at that time. Probably yes.
Padaria means bakery, for our daily bread.
Is anything known about the 5,5 inch ex HMS Hood?
