I finally have a filter on my shower and am sooooo happy!

It gets rid of chlorine and other nasties and the smell is so much better. Actually, it’s now LACKING a smell - yay! And hopefully the pink residue that the unfiltered tap water used to leave will now be gone. Here is the one I got:
http://www.aquasana.com/product.cfm?id=2. I’ve washed my hair with it once and immediately felt a difference. My hair was much softer and shinier and not as dry and “unkempt” looking. I know chlorine is supposed to be terrible for your hair and skin - drying it out and causing various problems - so I’ve wanted a filter for years. There are a lot of articles online about chlorine if you want to check it out. And, since I take baths a lot in the evening, I also got a “Crystal Ball for the Bath”, as shown here:
http://www.yourwaterneeds.com/WC_CrystalBath_detail.asp. I can really smell the lack of chlorine in my bath when I use it as well.
I’ve been on a quest for best health lately – ever since finding malignant melanoma on my leg and finding that I have higher cholesterol than I thought I did. I don’t eat red meat, cheese or any of the foods they say cause high cholesterol, so was a bit disheartened when I got the news mine was higher than it should be. It’s not terribly high, but since heart disease runs in my family, I figured I should try to get it down. My doctor suggested drugs, but I’m going to try to get it down naturally first – so have changed my diet even more. I’ve been slack at going to the gym for the past few years, so have started that back up at least 3 days a week, but am working up to 5 days a week. I don’t know why I stopped going on a regular basis - changes in life, I guess. I sit at a desk all day at work so it's imperative I get physical on a regular basis. Don’t be sedentary! It’s so important to keep moving your whole life. If you don’t, you’ll regret it – especially the older you get. I never thought I would age when I was younger – lol. I was going to be different! HA! Me = goober x 2.

Well, we all age and the healthier we are the better life is - and things really DO change when you get older. Things you never think about and things you swear will never happen to you.
I have also started taking more supplements since I am convinced modern food lacks the nutrients it did before all the chemicals were added and the soil was depleted. I hate taking lots of pills though, so I’ve created a drink in the morning that contains most of my supplements for the day. I pour some soy milk into my blender and then add a banana, Dr. Schulze’s “SuperFood” (
http://www.dr-schulze.com/p14.asp), a non-sweetened protein powder (
http://www.internatural-alternative-health.com/ingr/ingr541204.cfm) or another one I like. Then I add a teaspoon of calcium powder with Vitamin D from Kirkman Labs (
http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/products/minerals/calcium/Calcium_P_8_Spec005.html) and a tablespoon of flax oil or flax with primrose oil and blend until smooth and creamy. It jumpstarts my day!
Well, it’s Friday at last and Mike and I are going to some Harley thingy tomorrow. I like the ride, but I’m afraid the heat’s going to get to me. It’ll be almost 90 tomorrow! Maybe I’ll tote my camera and see if I can get some pics.
Next post I'll write more about hair and the products I'm using, etc...
